10. A local man crosses one of the three modern steel rope bridges on the way to Nongriat. Prior to the construction of the steel bridges, a different jungle trail via the Umshiang (Double Decker) root bridge and Mawsaw root bridge was used to reach the road to Cherrapunji from Nongriat. Since the construction of the new bridges that introduced a relatively shorter access route, the old path has been abandoned pushing the root bridges from center stage to the fringes.
