8. Living root bridges are scattered across the dense valleys of Khasi Hills in Meghalaya but the most spectacular and arguably the most famous is the Double Decker Bridge, which is over 180 years old. Situated in Nongriat, two levels of bridges were grown over the Umshiang River with a third level being grown for the sake of novelty which the villagers hope will add to its tourism potential.
